This realization served as a catalyst for Wavell, an audio company in Aarhus, where frustration was mounting and where the company itself had fallen into the same trap as the industry giants. They encountered customers—including their own family members—who couldn’t use the products because of their size. This led to a new direction for this Aarhus-based startup, which began to explore and challenge the status quo, asking what could go wrong by thinking differently.
This marked the beginning of a revolution in the audio industry regarding who can benefit from wireless headphones—not just a few family members, but already more than 10,000 Danes.
Through their development work and research, it became clear that a fundamental misunderstanding had taken hold regarding what in-ear headphones should offer their users. The market giants seemed to have R&D departments so focused on microchips and gimmicks that they overlooked the user’s basic needs.
